Tech Regents want VLA to keep its name
The New Mexico Tech Board of Regents approved a resolution urging the National Radio Astronomy Observatory to keep the name Very Large Array.

Venus continues its climb into the early evening sky. At magnitude -3.9 it will be easy to spot on the western horizon as it rises higher into the evening sky with each passing week. As we head into 2012 Venus will continue rising as it heads for a spectacular apparition in the spring.

An officer took a report of possible fraud. The case has been turned over to the District Attorney for possible prosecution.
Nationwide Emergency Broadcast Test Set For Nov. 9
The federal government will conduct the first ever nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System Wednesday afternoon, November 9, at Noon. The test will last about 30 seconds. During this period, regularly scheduled television, radio, cable, and satellite shows will be interrupted as the system is being tested. This event is not a real emergency alert, it is only a test.

Oct. 19
An officer made contact at 3 p.m. with a female who was walking in Magdalena. She was arrested for two outstanding warrants. One from Socorro District Court and another from Magistrate Court. The subject was taken to the Socorro County Detention Center for booking.
