Caution advised in roadways along vicinity of Whitewater-Baldy burnt areas
With Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) treatments for burnt areas of the Whitewater-Baldy Fire and recent openings of previous area closures, numerous large semi-trucks are currently operating from sunrise to sunset along roadways outside of Gila Wilderness boundaries. Logging trucks for the Deer Timber Sale and a few trucks from the upcoming Black Timber Sale, Reserve Ranger District, are also operating along the roadways. With the significant increase in large semi-trucks plus normal road traffic, Gila National Forest managers are urging all road travelers to use caution.
