In an effort to gather information and feedback from business leaders and community members, New Mexico Economic Development Department Cabinet Secretary Jon Barela will moderate a job creation meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 3 from 9:30 a.m. – noon in Socorro at the Socorro mayor’s chambers, 111 School of Mines Rd.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
Barela will join with economic development representatives from the region to discuss initiatives to create jobs for New Mexicans and to identify ways to provide employment and growth opportunities for small businesses. “In order for New Mexico to be competitive and continue to create jobs within our state, I believe it’s important for us to reach out across New Mexico and listen to what communities need in order to boost their economies,” Barela said.
Information and feedback that is the result of the Job Creation Tour will be taken into consideration for a job creation bill for the 2012 Legislative Session. The goal of this job creation bill is to make New Mexico competitive when it comes to local, national and international job recruitment, retention and expansion. Those who are unable to attend a meeting in person are encouraged
There will also be a meeting in Las Cruces from 3-5:30 p.m. the same day at the DACC-Workforce Development Center, 2345 E. Nevada, Ste. 101.
