Update On Three Wildfires West Of Magdalena
From the Cibola National Forest Ranger Station in Magdalena:
• AL Fire is located about 20 miles southwest of Magdalena. Currently, the fire is approximately 150 acres in size. Fire behavior is described as moderate, backing and flanking down slope, burning in ponderosa pine and piñon juniper vegetation. Total Fire Personnel: 3
• Dry Fire is located about 25 miles southwest of Magdalena and is 50 acres in size. Fire behavior is described as moderate, backing and flanking down slope, burning in ponderosa pine and mix conifer vegetation. Total Fire Personnel: 3
• Italian Fire is located about 15 miles southeast of Magdalena and is 190 acres in size. Access to the fire is in very steep and rugged terrain. Fire behavior is described as moderate, backing and flanking down slope, burning in ponderosa pine and piñon juniper vegetation. Total Fire Personnel: 38
These fires will be managed to accomplish specific resource management objectives allowing the fire to take its natural course in the ecosystem.
Smoke from these fires continues to be visible from Highway 60 southeast and west of Magdalena and Interstate 25 south of Socorro. As daytime temperatures and light winds increase, smoke is more readily dispersed. Smoke emissions will continue to be monitored throughout the course of the day.
