Another new real estate agency has opened in Magdalena, an indication that the home and land business is headed for an upswing. It’s called Major Ranch Realty.
Socorro County native Randell Major, a qualified broker, markets working cattle ranches, hunting ranches, recreational properties, horse ranches, rural land, farms, residential, and commercial properties.
He had previously sold real estate with Gallaher Real Estate in Magdalena, and Centerfire in Los Lunas.
“I grew up around cattle and have owned a cattle business since 1986,” Major said.
This is not surprising since his great grandfather started ranching here in 1887 on the old Field Ranch north of the Alamo reservation. His parents, Buddy and Helen Major, owned several ranches in New Mexico and one in Colorado and through the years he learned how to work, manage, and budget finances on these ranches.
“We’re finally seeing an upswing in real estate,” Major said. “The interest is not only for ranch property, but also in the subdivisions and residential homes.”
Major is licensed in the state of New Mexico, which means he is not limited to the local area.
“We can handle sales anywhere in the state,” he said. “Whether it’s a house in town or a rural property in another county.”
Major serves on the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association, and is a member of the Magdalena School Board.
Randell, his wife Lynn, and their children own and operate a cattle business on the flats between Magdalena and Socorro off Highway 60.
Major Ranch Realty is based at the Major home and can be found on the internet at www.majorranches.com.
